The basics

How to play Curryillion

Curryillion takes about three minutes and asks one question: how deep is your ball knowledge? Everybody gets the same seven prompts each day, so the scoring compares you with everyone else.

  1. 1

    Read the prompt

You see the question alone for a few seconds before the answer box opens. Use them to think past the first name.

  2. 2

    Beat the shot clock

You get 24 seconds. Type a player or team and submit. Close misspellings get a suggested correction.

  3. 3

    Keep shooting

A wrong guess costs nothing but time. Keep firing until one lands, within the guess limit.

  4. 4

    See the shot

Your first correct answer ends the prompt and scores by rarity. Then it is on to the next one.

Scoring

Rare answers score more

Every valid answer sits on a rarity tier. Each prompt hides exactly one One in a Curryillion answer, the deepest cut on the list. Hit it seven times and you score the maximum 700.

Strategy

Six quick tips for a better score

  • Skip your first thought

The first name that pops into your head is probably everyone else's too. That is a Layup.

  • Go back in time

"Player" means any NBA player in history. Older eras are where the deep cuts live.

  • Think role players

Journeymen, backups and short stints are rarely typed. Stars are almost always common answers.

  • Use old team names

Team prompts accept former names, like the Seattle SuperSonics or the Vancouver Grizzlies.

  • Take the safe shot late

A Layup is 10 points; a Brick is zero. With five seconds left, type the sure thing.

  • Study the box score

After the game you see every valid answer. That list is the best training you can get.

About the game

What is Curryillion?

Curryillion is a daily basketball trivia game built around one twist: any correct answer scores, but the answer everybody thinks of first is worth the least. Its scoring is drawn from the court. The obvious answer is a Layup (+10), then come the Free Throw (+25), the Three Pointer (+45) and the Half Court shot (+70). Every prompt also hides one answer so deep it is worth +100: the One in a Curryillion.

Fans also call it NBA Krillion or basketball Krillion, because it brings the rare-answer idea of the general-knowledge game Krillion to the NBA. The 24-second timer is a nod to the shot clock, and the prompts cover players, franchises, awards, draft history and stats across every era of the league.

There is one game per day, it resets at midnight Eastern Time, and your streak builds when you play on consecutive days. There is no account: the game saves progress in your browser. When you finish you get a box score with every valid answer and a spoiler-free emoji grid you can share.

Curryillion is a fan-made game and is not affiliated with the NBA. This site is an independent guide that embeds the original game from curryillion.com.

FAQ

Curryillion questions, answered

What is Curryillion?

Curryillion is a free daily basketball trivia game. Each day there are seven prompts about NBA players, teams and stats, and you get 24 seconds per prompt. Any correct answer scores, but rarer answers score more: from 10 points for a Layup up to 100 points for the single hidden "one in a Curryillion" answer.

Can I play Curryillion online for free here?

Yes. Press Play now at the top of this page and the original game loads right inside the page. It is free, there is nothing to download and you do not need an account. If the embedded game does not load on your device, use Pop out to open it in its own window.

When does the new Curryillion puzzle come out?

A new puzzle unlocks every day at midnight Eastern Time (ET). The countdown under the game shows exactly how long is left until the next one.

How is Curryillion scored?

Every valid answer sits on a rarity tier: Layup (+10), Free Throw (+25), Three Pointer (+45), Half Court (+70) and One in a Curryillion (+100). If the clock expires with no correct answer you score zero for that prompt, a Brick. The maximum is 700. See the full scoring guide.

Is Curryillion the same as NBA Krillion?

People often search for "NBA Krillion" or "basketball Krillion" when they mean Curryillion. Krillion is a general-knowledge daily trivia game that rewards rare answers; Curryillion applies a similar rare-answer idea to basketball, with a 24-second shot clock and shot-distance scoring. They are separate games. Read the comparison.

Who can I name as an answer?

Unless a prompt says otherwise, "player" means any NBA player in history, past or present. Some prompts also accept teams, including former team names. Accents, periods, capital letters and "Jr." do not matter.

Does a wrong guess cost points?

No. A wrong guess only costs time, so keep guessing until one lands. There is a limit on guesses per prompt, though, so do not spam random names. Your first correct answer ends the prompt.

Is this the official Curryillion website?

No. This is an independent play-and-guide site. The game itself is created and hosted by its original developer at curryillion.com, and we embed it here so you can play next to the rules and tips. Your progress and streak are saved by the game in your browser.
